Patients using the four hospitals within the South Bruce Grey Health Centre, are very satisfied with their treatment and would recommend the facilities to others seeking health care.
The results come from a survey conducted by the National Research Council.
President and CEO of SBGHC Paul Rosebush, reported to a board of directors meeting recently that all of the hospitals were recognized in one way or the other as top performers.
Rosebush believes one of the reasons for the patient satisfaction comes from the hospitals being in a rural setting.
He says when patients come in, they likely know the doctors or other staff and conversely the hospital staff is familiar with the patients.
It creates a highly personalized care experience that you don’t typically get in larger communities.
Rosebush says the hospital is mandated by the province to do an annual patient satisfaction survey and this year it cost $30,000 for the NRC to carry it out.
He says in the next fiscal year, the survey will be done in-house to save money to help fight what is already shaping up to be a deficit of at least $700,000.
SBGHC operates four hospitals in Walkerton, Kincardine, Chesley and Durham.
