Plans for Summerfolk 2012 are in the works.
The Georgian Bay Folk Society has reached its fundraising goal.
Through individual donations, memberships and new sponsorships, the Folk Society has raised 12 and a half thousand dollars.
Added to the money raised from the two benefit concerts (Nov 5th & Nov 12), they now have a total of 25 thousand dollars.
At the beginning of October, the Georgian Bay Folk Society announced they need to raise this money by mid-December if there was any hope of hosting Summerfolk Music and Crafts Festival again.
Now they’re back in the black, and confident they will get government grants and sponsorship monies in the Spring.
Plans are now in the works for the 37th annual Summerfolk festival — and this year’s theme will be “Celebrate the Sound.”
And the Society expects to make an announcement soon about the hiring of a new Artistic Director.
