Today is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
The Women’s Centre in Owen Sound is recognizing the day with a candle lighting ceremony.
It will take place at 5 PM at the women’s shelter in Owen Sound.
The M’Wikwedong Family Friendship Centre is co-ordinating efforts with the shelter for tonight’s ceremony.
They will honour the over 600 aboriginal women and all other women who are missing or have lost their lives due to violence.
