It was a peaceful protest against the construction of a wind turbine on CAW property in south Port Elgin on Friday morning with about 50 sign carrying protestors.
Brad Hewlette who lives near the proposed 250-foot turbine at the CAW Family Education Centre came right to the point.
He believes the CAW is being a bad neighbour.
He wasn’t alone.
Protestor Paul Krane hinted that a court injunction was being filed to stop the turbine construction however there was no further information.
Greg Schmalz who lives nearby says a new group called STOP — Saugeen Turbine Operation Policy — has been formed.
He says the hypocrisy of the issue is astounding.
Schmalz says the CAW stands for the health and safety of its workers and yet nearby residents are not being heard.
Saugeen Shores councillors Fred Schildroth and Diane Huber were also on hand.
Schildroth says the turbine is being built in the wrong place and all of council disagrees with the project as it stands now.
The protestors marched outside the entrance and exit to the CAW parking lot.
CAW personnel were not on hand.
Meanwhile, looking into the CAW parking lot, one could see some small trees that have been cut down in the northeast section of the lot, in preparation for the foundation of the turbine.
