The new nine million dollar banquet hall at Hanover Raceway will be known as “Carriage Hall.”
General Manager Gord Dougan tells Bayshore Broadcasting News a committee picked the name from a list of three finalists on Wednesday night.
Dougan says the committee liked ‘Carriage Hall’ to begin with — and it received the majority of support from their surveys with the Hanover Chamber and on facebook.
The other options were ‘Copperstone’ and the ‘Hanover Entertainment Centre.’
Dougan says ‘Carriage Hall’ sounds inviting and luxurious and also ties in nicely with the equine theme at the racetrack.
Now that they have a name — Dougan says their marketing consultants will design a website and two logos to consider.
He hopes that will take place before Christmas.
Dougan says they will also hire a Catering, Sales and Marketing Manager in the new year and they will begin selling the 30 thousand square foot facility.
He expects the new facility will be able to attract all types of events — from concerts to food markets to farm shows to weddings.
Dougan hopes ‘Carriage Hall’ will be open by December 1st next year (2012).
