The Hanover and District Hospital does not want to reconsider plans to set up a nuclear medicine program.
CEO Katrina Wilson says they have put a lot of time and effort into the proposal which now sits with the Local Health Integration Network.
Wilson says if it’s ever determined there is a need for nuclear medicine closer to her hospital, it would be strongly be considered for Hanover.
The board is meeting tonight at 8pm to discuss the current situation.
She says specifically they will discuss whether or not to pursue the LHIN for written confirmation.
Wilson says they are waiting for the LHIN to give the board formal direction; whether or not to coast and wait until they have a clinical blueprint determined, or to let the idea go.
At this point, Wilson says they had verbal communication to put the idea on hold, but want more than that.
Plans to develop an advanced diagnostic imaging service at the hospitals has been in the works for several years, and a proposal was submitted in 2006.
The nearest nuclear medicine program available to residents of southern Grey and Bruce counties is in Owen Sound.
