The three year agreement for a Kincardine Airport service provider comes to an end December 31st and council needs to either renew that contract with the current provider or look for a new provider.
Council has agreed to issue a request for proposals (RFP) for the next three years.
Kincardine Mayor Larry Kraemer says they’re not unhappy with the services provided so far — but merely following policy.
Current providers, Evans Aviation, are expected to make a presentation and Kraemer believes they have a good shot at it, knowing the ins and outs of the operation to this point, having won the last RFP three years ago.
Kraemer points out though, anyone qualified to operate a business like the airport can put a proposal forward and the best one will win.
The tendered contract for 2009 was just over 68 thousand dollars, while the estimated cost this year is almost 71 thousand dollars.
Another issue that will be dealt with this time around is defining who, within the municipal staff, would be the administrators of the contract.
There had been some confusion as to that issue in the past year.
Larry Kraemer says that problem will be discussed at the Corporate Services meeting on December 14th.
