It appears a strike by nurses at the Grey Bruce Health Unit has been averted.
A tentative contract settlement has been reached between the ONA Local 004 and the Grey Bruce Health Unit.
The deal was reached during mediation talks this week, and the Board of Health will vote on the agreement at it’s meeting on Friday.
The 38 nurses at the Health Unit have already voted to accept the package, which is retroactive to January 1st of this year.
The ONA members had earlier voted 91 per cent in favour of job action — and without the tentative deal — they would have been in a legal strike position today.
Details on the contract won’t be revealed until after the ratification vote by the board of health is held.
The Board negotiating team is recommending acceptance of the package by the Grey Bruce Health Unit at it’s meeting on Friday.
