Bruce Power, its supplier partners and employees will match up to $100,000 in donations to True North Aid and the Canadian Red Cross to support wildfire relief in Northern Ontario.
According to a release, Bruce Power and its supplier partners are pledging up to $50,000 to True North Aid, which provides humanitarian support to northern and remote Indigenous communities, and up to $50,000 to the Canadian Red Cross.
“We’ve all seen the images on the news of the loss many communities are suffering and the effects it’s having on the people who live in Northern Ontario and across Canada,” says Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice-President at Bruce Power James Scongack. “We’re joining with our supplier partners and employees to raise money to help and we invite you to donate to this worthy cause if you’re able to do so.”
The campaign also serves as a reminder of the connection between environmental sustainability, air quality and public health. Wildfires have become an increasing source of air pollution across Canada, contributing to air quality concerns that can affect communities hundreds or even thousands of kilometres from the source of a fire.
Contributions will help support immediate relief and long-term recovery efforts and may be used to assist evacuees and affected communities as they rebuild
