Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health is temporarily assuming control of the Grey Bruce Board of Health, due to “serious concerns” about the board’s “ability to fulfill its responsibilities.”
Dr. Kieran Moore announced the change in a statement sent out late Thursday afternoon. He says concerns were identified following an independent assessment conducted under the Health Protection and Promotion Act.
“These concerns include issues related to governance, leadership, financial management and human resources,” Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer says in a statement.
The move by the provincial government comes just over a week after all seven municipally-appointed members of Grey Bruce’s Board of Health were dismissed for unknown reasons, leaving the board with only four sitting members — all provincial appointees.
