Bruce County says the Durham Street Bridge in downtown Walkerton remains closed Wednesday until further notice.
They say the Saugeen River has continued to recede, allowing construction crews to start the clean-up process this morning.
The high-water levels have left a significant amount of debris on the construction platform.
They add, a structural assessment of the bridge will be completed by a qualified engineer before the bridge reopens.
There are two detour routes.
The County says emergency vehicles, including fire, EMS, and police, will be permitted to use the bridge when responding to calls.
Alternate Routes Available
Northerly Alternative Truck Route: Bruce County Road 19 → Concession 8 (Brant) → Bruce County Road 3
Southerly Alternative Truck Route: Grey County Road 10 → Concession 10E (Carrick) → Highway 9
