Arran-Elderslie’s Fire Chief has issued a statement after concerns about a gas smell in Paisley on Tuesday.
Fire Chief Steve Tiernan says many residents throughout the community smelled what they believed to be a natural gas smell.
He says the gas smell was also identified at the Paisley District School, and the school followed its procedures within its emergency plan.
Epcor was notified and conducted an investigation, and Tiernan says nothing was found.
The Fire Chief says, “It is important to remember within our community, that when a perceived emergency is present, or believed to be present, that 911 is called. Although the smell of natural gas, propane or other smells may be considered trivial by some people not knowing what they are experiencing, in some circumstances it can be very dangerous.”
He says, “We would like everyone to share the message that if you are not sure what you are experiencing, and you do not feel that it is normal, call 911 right away so that we can get the appropriate level of emergency response coming.”
Tiernan adds, “Better to call 911 than to not call, and have an emergency happen.”
