A car and a horse-drawn buggy collided in Chatsworth Township yesterday morning, but thankfully no one was hurt.
Grey Bruce OPP, Chatsworth firefighters and Grey County paramedics responded to the incident at Grey Road 3 and Sideroad 6 around 9:15 a.m. Sunday morning.
The OPP say there were 11 people in the buggy. No injuries were reported.
Police say a 39-year-old from South Bruce was ticketed for careless driving.
The OPP are also sharing a public safety reminder about horse-drawn buggies in wake of the incident.
“Horse drawn vehicles are a common sight on Grey and Bruce County rural roadways and drivers must be prepared to encounter this type of vehicle on their travels,” Grey Bruce OPP say in a release. “Horse drawn buggies travel about 14 km/h, making them one of the slowest moving vehicles on the road. They are also one of the lightest vehicles which leaves them at a greater risk of injury should they become involved in a collision.”
Grey Bruce say as a driver, it’s important to ensure you leave plenty of room when passing a horse-drawn buggy — passing too closely could startle the horse.
