Saugeen Shores police say their service experienced its highest call volume ever in 2023.
They say they were involved in 11,600 incidents, an increase of over 1,200 calls from 2022.
A statement from the service says, “We are very proud of our officers and their accomplishments in 2023. In particular, we are proud of our community outreach involvement and programs. From our annual Christmas Toy and Food Drive to the Police Week BBQ in May.”
Police have provided a snapshot of some occurrences in 2023, by the numbers:

-Weapons 21
-Threats 40
-Mischief 114
-Theft 217
-Break and Enter 36
-Bail Violations 76
-Neighbour dispute 68
Saugeen Shores police say 2023 saw the retirement of long-time officer PC Greg Fletcher, who now works as a Special Constable with the service. They also welcomed Constable Derek King and recruit Constable Kaley Tienharra.
