The Grey Bruce OPP’s Auxiliary Unit had a successful food drive in Tobermory.
On Saturday, December 2nd, auxiliary members were at Foodland to collect donations and were able to collect 335 pounds of food, along with $118.30 in cash donations for the local food bank, which will be available for those in need.
“Everyone was happy to donate, and it’s just very heartwarming to see the community come together and make these donations,” says Constable Krista Linthorne, who is the Community Service and Media Officer. “I think the community support was amazing. For such a small community, the residents of Tobermory are very generous.”
She says that given that Tobermory has a small population, it’s important that residents can come together and support one another.
“I think it’s important for the community to support each other, especially in Northern Bruce Peninsula because they are so far away and so isolated from the larger centres. So I think that it’s great that they donate and support each other up there.”
The OPP Auxiliary are volunteer members who typically help with community events such as food drives.
