It was a busy weekend for Saugeen Shores Police responding to multiple calls for service and issuing a number of charges.
Police say on Dec. 1 at 12 p.m., offers were dispatched to a business in Southampton for a report of a man causing a disturbance and yelling racial slurs and threats at staff members before leaving the scene in a vehicle.
Police were able to local the vehicle and conduct a traffic stop. When officers requested the man exit the vehicle, he refused to identify himself or co-operate. The man then attempted to put the vehicle into motion and he was physically removed. The man started to resist arrest and struck one of the officers.
As a result, the 40-year-old man from South Bruce Peninsula was charged with two counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, causing a disturbance, obstructing a peace officer, assault, and assault with intent to resist arrest. He was released with conditions and a future court date.
Later the same day at 2 p.m., police say officers were dispatched to an issue at a local hotel, were they located a man known to them to be on conditions to reside in another community. Police add the man was also with someone he was not to have contact with as part of a previous release order.
As a result, the 44-year-old from Northern Bruce Peninsula was charged with two counts of failing to comply with a release order.
He was held at the Saugeen Shores Police station for a bail hearing and was remanded into custody.
On Dec. 2 at 6 p.m., police say they responded to a report of an unwanted person at a residence on the south end of Port Elgin, were both parties were known to each other. When police attended the scene and attempted to place the unwanted woman under arrest, a struggle ensued and the woman was forcefully removed from the home.
Police say while at the station, the woman spat in the face of one of the officers.
As a result, the 35-year-old from Port Elgin has been charged with unlawfully in a dwelling house, resisting a peace officer, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a weapon, possession of methamphetamine, and assaulting a peace officer.
The woman was held in custody for a bail hearing the following day.
