Saugeen First Nation says in a statement the remains of an indigenous ancestor will be repatriated this week.
They say a ceremonial reburial tomorrow will be open to band members to offer their thoughts and prayers before they are laid back to rest.
Grey Bruce OPP say the landscaping company that moved the recently found human remains from Sauble to Southampton was unaware of what they were moving.
OPP Constable Krista Linthorne says in an email to Bayshore Broadcasting, the company was excavating a property in Sauble Beach, and depositing their loads at the Southampton yard waste site.
According to OPP, the company was using large equipment and was unaware there were human remains in the load.
The remains were discovered by a citizen at the Southampton yard waste site last week and were determined by a forensic anthropologist to be historic and those of an ancestor of Saugeen Ojibway Nation.
