Bruce County is moving forward with entering into a Memorandum of Understanding with Bruce Power and the Nuclear Innovation Institute for the Clean Energy Frontier Program.
The initiative was focused on supporting the expansion and integration of businesses in the nuclear industry supply chain.
The program’s goal is to promote the region as a leader in clean energy, support economic development and investment attraction, and increase awareness of clean energy initiatives.
The County’s contribution to the program is $55,000, which is the same amount that it has contributed in the last three years of the agreement.
Bruce Power and Bruce County will provide funding to cover operational costs to support the program, while the NII carries the operational costs, including employing staff.
That contribution is subject to budget approval each year.
The new MOU will be in effect from January 1, 2024 until December 31, 2026.
