Big Brothers Big Sisters of Grey Bruce and Western Simcoe is using federal government funding to support its services for the next year.
Executive Director Beth Aubrey says they received the over $38,000 from the Government of Canada’s Community Services Recovery Fund in August.
The funding will be used to adapt their foundational systems, as well as support and improve long-term community engagement and strengthen youth programs.
“Similar to other charities, we faced some obstacles in terms of our infrastructure and this grant really allowed us to strengthen the work we do, strengthen our donor relations, strengthen our fundraising practices, and just how we market our brand and how we welcome new volunteers, how we support new families in the community, so it has really helped build the foundation to make everything else we do a success,” says Aubrey.
The organization was selected as one of the over 5,000 projects to be funded under this initiative.
“Investing in our communications and fundraising strategies and approaches will ensure our agency has the internal resources to effectively navigate the changing market and strategically plan for the future. With newfound communication and fundraising efficiencies, our organization can re-allocate time and the increased funds to better serve our community,” says Aubrey.
