The Chesley Hospital Foundation is holding a gala fundraiser this month.
Co-Chair of the Gala Jennifer Isber-Legge says this new event on Sept. 30 at the Chesley Community Centre will include a catered meal, wine selection, as well as silent and live auction.
“We are looking forward to celebrating healthcare in Chesley, the Chesley Hospital and our physicians at our medical clinic and healthcare services in the area around Chesley, including Arran-Elderslie and Elmwood and Desboro and everyone in our area,” says Isber-Legge.
She says one of the items to keep an eye out for with the silent auction will be a round plane trip as well as luggage to go with it.
Isber-Legge adds the funds raised from the event, the goal of which being $50,000, will go to support the hospital and physician recruitment efforts.
“We are already at $40,000 in sponsorships, so we are looking at lots of guests coming out for our silent auction and live auction to really blow us out of the water,” says Isber-Legge.
When asked if events like the gala will help combat the frequent Emergency Department closures the hospital faces as a result of staffing levels, she says having having a strong medical clinic is the key to getting more staff.
“When we do fundraisers like this and we get to say thank you to our doctors and our healthcare staff and nurses, I think that all goes together to show that staff how much we appreciate them and how much we would love to have new staff join that team,” says Isber-Legge.
