Kincardine has awarded the contract for the reconstruction of the Durham Street Lift Station.
The contract has been given to Birnam Excavating.
The work is expected to cost $1,454,690 to improve the infrastructure for the sanitary station.
The Durham Street Lift Station was on the list of 2023 capital projects budget.
The station was built in 1963 but hasn’t received any major upgrades since 1981 when it got improvements to deal with the growth of Kincardine at the time.
The current project will include new pumps, a valve chamber, a diesel generator, and an automatic transfer switch.
The Durham Street Lift Station covers about 6.5 kilometres of municipal gravity sewer mains that flow to the station.
Planned upgrades allow the Municipality of Kincardine to be prepared for any possible expansion in areas around Highland and McLeod Streets, and properties north of Gary Street.
