A new, inclusive playground is going to be coming to GC Huston Public School.
A memorandum of understanding was signed at the school yesterday with Rotary Southampton.
The project comes with an estimated price tag of $115,000.
The school has a reserve fund of $30,000 for the new playground, and the remaining $85,000 will be raised with the help of the Rotary Club.
Fundraising is expected to be completed by the Spring of 2024.
GC Huston principal Hugh Morrison says that the new playground will replace the school’s existing equipment, which was deemed at the end of its lifespan, and needed to be replaced with equipment that is more inclusive to use.
In the summer of 2024, the school board is already planning to refresh the tarmac at the school, and it was a good opportunity to replace the playground head of the paving project.
