The City of Owen Sound has been given two awards for last year’s Sound Waterfront Festival.
The city has been given both a Top 100 Award of Achievement and an Impact Award from Festivals & Events Ontario.
The awards were presented during this week in Niagara Falls.
The Impact Award is a new honour that recognizes a festival or event that embodies the best ideas to advance cultural diversity and inclusion at events, empowers marginalized demographics to participate, or increases the social impact of events within a community.
Owen Sound Mayor Ian Boddy says in a media release that “It’s with great pride and honour that the City is recognized by Festivals and Events Ontario for The Sound Waterfront Festival. This event reflects an inclusive and welcoming environment for our community members, visitors, and newcomers.”
Each winner of the Top 100 Award of Achievement gets featured on the FEO’s website, social media, and e-newsletter.
The city says that it’s in the process of planning this year’s installment of The Sound Waterfront Festival, which is set to take place on June 30th and July 1st, 2023.
Owen Sound has also received an Innovation award for the 2022 Holiday Magic event.
