The Bruce County Public Library is planning to continue working on making its library branches more accessible and inclusive in 2023.
While addressing county staff and council during the Operational Budget meeting, Library Director Brooke McLean explained that “We’re going to continue making our library branches welcoming and inclusive spaces, by including new children’s shelving and furnishings where required, as well as updating our public work stations to be height adjustable and fully accessible.”
She also says they plan on making a safe working environment for staff.
“We’re going to look at improving health and safety for our staff — many of whom work alone in our library branches, so [we’re] looking to add lone-worker monitoring and controls to support those staff who do work alone.”
McLean says they would also like to add two regular part-time staff members to deliver services throughout Bruce County.
The library is also hoping to make its plan of a bookmobile a reality this year.
