Bruce County’s CAO wants to use his department’s share of the 2023 budget to help make operations more efficient.
In a presentation to County Council and staff during a lengthy Corporate Services meeting discussing the operating budget for the year, CAO Derrick Thomson outlined what the plan was for the administrative operations side of things.
“We want to implement an electronic records management system. We’ve got a number of developing plans in different states…We’re looking at operational efficiencies and structure as we move forward. I’ve talked about [an] intergovernmental relations office and wanting to create, develop, and start our advocacy at both the federal and provincial levels,” says Thomson.
He also outlined the approach that his office wanted to take in 2023 in terms of working on community programs, saying “There is grant funding available for different programs, and we need to try our best to go out and get that grant funding for our programs,” and added that “Of course, our Indigenous engagement [and] reconciliation programs are all very important and we continue to work through those.”
Thomson also mentioned that there was support available for their corporate facilities research plan.
