Over the past year, Crime Stoppers Grey Bruce has helped police arrest over 30 people and lay 145 charges.
Crime Stoppers says in 2022, regional police were supplied with about 600 tips from Crime Stoppers, which resulted in the recovery of over $150,000 in stolen property, the seizure of over $500,000 worth of drugs and proceeds, as well as a number of arrests and charges laid.
Crime Stoppers is celebrating January as its awareness month, and the theme this year is, “Stand Up, Stand Together.”
“Often people are hesitant to come forward because of many reasons. By providing anonymity and removing the burden of testifying in court, Crime Stoppers makes it easier and safer to help the police make a difference in your community. By standing up and standing together, taking the time to report information we can be part of the solution,” says Crime Stoppers in a release.
Crime Stoppers Grey Bruce works with partners globally to celebrate community collaboration between people, media and the police, by providing an anonymous channel to report criminal activity.
Crime Stoppers is also looking for people to represent communities in Grey and Bruce on its Board of Directors or as volunteers for fundraising events and community awareness initiatives.
Since its creation in 1987, Crime Stoppers of Grey Bruce’s tips have resulted in the seizure or recovery of almost $55 million in drugs, cash and property.
