The YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce finally got a chance to honour their former CEO.
Gayle Graham retired as Chief Executive Officer of the organization last year, and the Board of Directors decided to dedicate the gymnasium in her name.
“Gayle has shown exceptional leadership experience and determination, playing a large part in encouraging the YMCA volunteers and staff, and other community members to actually help build the new facility,” says April Robinson, the Manager of Fund Development & Communications.
She says it was a fitting tribute to a woman who was CEO of the organization for 23 years, and who is now happily retired.
“Gayle was involved in everything. She was basically a cornerstone of the YMCA. Her dedication to her community — to the Y members, staff, volunteers, and community as a whole was outstanding. She was the heart and soul of the YMCA.”
Robinson also says that it was nice to finally be able to have the chance for the gymnasium dedication ceremony to take place now that COVID restrictions are out of their way and they could hold the ceremony.
