The municipality of South Bruce is warning residents to stay away from all watercourses in the Mildmay area due to a potential dam failure.
A notice on the municipality’s website says there is a high potential risk of flooding which could create hazardous conditions near waterways due to the potential failure of the dam on Adam Street in Mildmay.
“Residents are warned to stay away from the banks of Otter Creek in Mildmay between Adam Street and downstream immediately,” the notice says.
The warning from the municipality goes on to say all watercourses near Mildmay should be avoided at this time, including parks and trails.
The Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority has been notified and is also monitoring the situation.
The municipality says further updates will be provided as the situation with the dam in Mildmay evolves.
