Sunday, April 1st is going to be an exciting day for the South Bruce Grey Health Centre (SBGHC), as it celebrates 20-years as a multi-site hospital organization.
On April 1st, 1998, the hospitals in Kincardine, Chesley, Walkerton and Durham formed SBGHC. At the time, the Walkerton site was known as the County of Bruce General Hospital.
President & CEO of SBGHC Paul Rosebush says, “It’s not an easy thing to bring four hospitals together and to get them working cohesively and to have the same vision and goals. We’ve been able to do that in the last 20-years.”
Rosebush says to mark the occasion, they’re having Open Houses at all sites and SBGHC has unveiled a new brand logo.
According to a prepared news release, the logo “Represents the thriving rural communities of Grey and Bruce and the Lake Huron Shoreline, encompassed in a circle of care.”
Open Houses celebrating 20-years of health care service are scheduled for all four hospitals;
Chesley Hospital — April 18
Durham Hospital — April 20
Kincardine Hospital — April 24
Walkerton Hospital — April 26
Each open house will be held 2pm to 3:30pm.
Rosebush says, “We’re going to invite the public and local politicians if they’re available, to come and have celebratory cake, walk around and talk to staff about what’s new at the hospital.”
He says the success of the organization is due to the dedicated staff, many of whom have been with the hospitals since amalgamation.
The four sites continue to offer 24-7 emergency services, acute care and a full complement of laboratory and diagnostic imaging services in each community.
