Bruce Peninsula District School in Lion’s Head is about to get a makeover.
Starting this summer, the home of the Panthers will see a number of renovations get under way and will include modifications to some of the classrooms, replacement of the roof, and a refurbishment of the washroom facilities.
But that’s not all.
Paul Hambleton, Superintendent of Education with the Bluewater District School Board, says part of the renovation work to the aging school involves some demolition.
“We’ll also be removing one of the older pieces of the building, the 1924 section,” says Hambleton.
While exact dollar figures have not been made available, the Board did submit an application for $600,000 from the Province.
In turn, the work will be funded by The Ministry of Education’s School Consolidated Capital and School Condition Improvement Programs.
A public meeting is scheduled for next Thursday, March 8th, 2018 at Bruce Peninsula District School in Lion’s Head to bring people up to speed on the planned renovations.
The meeting gets under way starting at 7pm.
As for when the work will begin?
“My understanding is that we’re looking at beginning it this summer and completing the work in time for school to start in the fall,” notes Hambleton.
