A Former Director of Education at the Bruce Grey Catholic District School Board has a new job in Nova Scotia.
Cathy Montreuil has been appointed the new Deputy Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development for the Province.
Nova Scotia Premier Stephen McNeil says she brings a wealth of experience having worked as an educator, assistant deputy minister in Ontario, superintendent, school board director and as a member of an Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development working group representing the Council of Education Ministers.
He adds, this experience well positions her to lead transformation in the education system to create the best opportunities for the students and teachers.
She has taught in elementary and secondary schools, worked for about 18 years in special education and worked with the OECD, an international body that promotes policies that will improve the economic and social well-being of people around the world.
Montreuil says it is a privilege and honour to be chosen to work with the students, educators and stakeholders in Nova Scotia
She adds “I feel fortunate to be joining a system where partners share a passion for working on behalf of the best interests of students.”
