The lingering question of water safety in Sauble Beach should be answered when the results of a pollution study start to come out.
South Bruce Peninsula Council is expected to put out a request for proposal following Monday’s budget meeting.
Even though their budget has yet to be finalized, Council is setting 85 thousand dollars aside for the study.
Councillor Marilyn Bowman — who sits on the Water and Sewer ad-hoc Committee — says the question of water safety has never been fully answered.
Bowman says the public needs to know if there’s a scientific or medical need for a change in their current human waste management system.
The money will go towards testing ground and well water, as well as surface water and the beach itself.
Bowman says the study would begin May 1st, depending on what type of RFP’s they get back.
There is a pre-budget approval for the monies and direction from council to send out the RFP’s.
The town is looking at a nearly 28 million dollar sewer system in Sauble Beach — and Bowman says the hope among council is that the study will give them a clear direction to take.
