Unit 8 at the Bruce Nuclear site in Toverton is back online.
Bruce Power says the Unit returned to service on Friday following a planned maintenance outage that began on January 15th.
Executive Vice President and Chief Nuclear Officer, Ken Ellis, says Bruce Power spent 30 million dollars on Unit 8 during the outage.
He says it not only ensures it is safe and reliable for the foreseeable future, but it also provided a significant boost to the local economy.
During the outage, Bruce Power added about 200 contractors to the workforce at its peak.
Unit 8 ran at 92 per cent capacity in 2011 and it also had a steady run of 538 days when it was taken offline in January 2012.
Unit 8 produces 820 MW of electricity.
