Bruce County budget deliberations are in the homestretch.
County Council poured over the latest figures at Thursday’s meeting.
Clerk-Treasurer Bettyanne Cobean says after all the numbers have been crunched — ratepayers will see a roughly 2.7 per cent increase in property taxes.
That works out to an extra 23 dollars a year for the average assessed home.
That figure only accounts for the County portion of your property taxes, and does not include municipal tax hikes or education fees.
Other budget highlights include an extra 100 thousand dollars for bridge work around the county.
That 100 thousand was pulled from the winter roads maintenance budget, based on lower average costs over the last few years.
Bruce County Warden David Inglis says he’s pretty happy with the numbers so far — and is glad to see some much needed infrastructure funding included.
Inglis adds they will present a finalized 2012 budget at their first council session in April.
