The Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has executed 16 warrants following an investigation into multiple animal cruelty complaints in the Lucknow area.
Enforcement Officer Brad Dewar tells us there are 16 individual residences or farms that were subject to visitation on Monday.
He says officers from all over Southern Ontario took part, including Perth, Huron and Bruce chapters.
Dewar says the complaints relating to animal care and condition were subject of an investigation that began last fall.
He will not confirm how widespread the area that staff covered in today’s raids is.
Dewar says all of the animal owners have pledged to clean up their act, and no charges were laid in today’s exercise.
He says the time allowed for compliance depends on the individual animal’s condition.
