Time is running out to register for the 7th annual “Driven to Quit” Challenge.
The Canadian Cancer Society is using the campaign to encourage people to quit smoking.
The Challenge is open to Ontarians aged 19 and over who have used tobacco at least 10 months since the beginning of 2011.
Project Co-ordinator Christa Bennett tells us there is misconception that smoking is a habit and quitting is a decision — she says quitting is a journey.
Bennett notes on average — it takes people three to five attempts to quit smoking.
She says they will help the participants by giving them tools to help them quit smoking over the long haul.
Bennett notes people start to see their health improve as early as 8 hours after quitting.
This year, those who stay smoke free for the entire month of March could win their choice of a new car, — either a Ford Fusion hybrid or a Ford Edge.
There are also vacation and cash prizes.
If you would like to participate — you must register by February 29th at www.driventoquit.ca
