The owner of the fire-ravaged Around the Sound Food Market will not be re-opening her business.
But Anne Finlay-Stewart says she wants to do what she can to help start up another local food market in Owen Sound.
Her business on 6th Street East was destroyed by an early morning fire in May of 2011.
Finlay-Stewart says there is still a big interest among local food producers and farmers to have a market, and demand from consumers for one.
She says she’d be glad to be a part of something like that again, but she doesn’t want to be the owner.
She says she’s invested what she had and lost it — and that’s the risk of being in business.
She adds the question is now who is interested in making this happen for the community.
Finlay-Stewart has put together a meeting where she hopes partnerships will form.
She says everybody with an interest is invited — farmers, artists, producers, and even people who might own a space that could be used.
The meeting is being held Tuesday night at 6 PM at the Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library.
