There was unity at the end but there were at least muted questions of Tim Hudak’s leadership at the annual Progressive Conservative convention in Niagara Falls.
Hudak garnered 78.7 per cent support to lead the party into the next provincial election from delegates who met on the weekend.
Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson was among those who attended.
She believes Hudak will lead the Tories into power at Queen’s Park and even though there were some doubters there was a positive feeling among the party faithful.
Thompson says Hudak took the blame for not taking the Liberals to task hard enough on many of the major issues in last October’s campaign.
She says Hudak’s keynote speech reflects a strength of character and the commitment to get the job done as Opposition leader and the next Premier.
Thompson says the Tory convention was a learning process for the party and that the lessons will be taken to heart over the time leading up to the next election.
The date of the next election isn’t assured because the Liberals govern with a minority in the Legislature.
