The new owner of the former PPG site in Owen Sound is ready to tear down part of the building.
Ian Bartles of Budget Environmental says the plan is to demolish about 55 thousand square feet of the old factory on the east end, and then lease or sell off the remaining warehouse space.
Bartles paid 1.67 million dollars for the old PPG property.
The 600 thousand square foot building on 73 acres along 20th Street East in Owen Sound had been listed for sale for 6.1 million dollars.
He is fairly confident that the site can be filled in a short period of time — telling Bayshore Broadcasting News there has been significant interest from business in the area.
PPG closed about three years ago in Owen Sound.
At one time the facility had 500 workers and it was for sale recently for 6.1 million dollars.
