Brockton Council will vote tonight on final approval for its 2012 budget.
Brockton Council and staff have very busy crunching the numbers and as it stands right now, it looks like Brockton ratepayers will see a one per cent tax hike.
Mayor David Inglis says the small tax hike will allow them more breathing room and build up the reserve fund.
Last year’s budget included a 0 per cent tax hike — and Inglis says that didn’t leave the municipality with much wiggle room.
Inglis says the extra 55 thousand dollars earmarked for reserves should alleviate the pressure this year.
Inglis says it will not be a flashy budget by any means.
He says there are no big ticket items — with infrastructure funding slated for simple road maintenance projects.
Inglis adds staff have been working diligently with Council to trim away any excess fat — noting that cuts have been made wherever possible.
The budget will come before Council on February 13th for final approval.
