The MP for Bruce Grey Owen Sound says he is getting a lot of support about his comments that compare the long gun registry to Hitler’s Nazi regime.
Larry Miller says he is sorry if he offended anyone with his comments in the House on Tuesday — but he stands by his statement.
Miller quoted former Liberal Justice Minister Allan Rock as well as Liberal senator Sharon Carstairs — and said those comments were similar to Hitler’s policies.
Miller tells Bayshore Broadcasting News his office has been flooded with calls and emails in support of his statements — and a few who oppose his comments.
Miller believes the only reason the Liberals are upset is because he quoted two of their colleagues and the similarities with Hitler’s policies.
Miller adds his comments do not condone what Hitler did — but we shouldn’t bury our heads in the sand about history.
About half of the listeners who have called in to our news department feel Miller was bang on about his comments.
