An elderly Kincardine resident is dead following an overnight house fire.
South Bruce OPP say the blaze broke out about 11:56 PM on Tuesday at a home on Fraser Drive.
The home was engulfed in flames with police and firefighters arrived on the scene.
Firefighters found the homeowner, 72 year old Ila Wellman still inside the house and got her out.
However she was pronounced dead at Kincardine hospital.
South Bruce OPP are investigating the cause of the fire with the assistance of the OPP Crime Unit and investigators from the Fire Marshall’s office.
25 firefighters responded from two stations with two pumpers, and an aerial device.
Officials say flames were shooting up from the roof upon arrival.
The home sustained heavy fire damage — and damage is estimated at 200 thousand dollars.
Anyone that may have witnessed the fire is asked to call the OPP or Crime Stoppers.
