Grey County is considering whether to build a new 13 million dollar facility.
The Ventin Group did a study on the County’s current and future needs.
A report is going to County Council today that offers several choices with the most expensive being a brand new building on the current site.
CAO Lance Thurston says the consultants report shows Grey County needs nearly 75 thousand square feet of additional space at the current administration building, and nearly 30 thousand more for its’ provincial offences facility.
Thurston says everything is up for discussion including doing nothing.
He says they could add on to the existing building but then it is a 50 year old building with accessibility issues.
The county CAO says there is some growth in staffing numbers that will put added pressure on the already cramped space in the Grey county building.
County council is likely going to ask for a staff report showing cost comparisons, and nothing is going to be decided at Tuesday’s County Council meeting.
