A buyout will be negotiated Monday for an early closure of the Veyance Technology plant in Owen Sound.
The United Steelworkers will meet with company officials in Toronto.
Veyance announced its closure February 1st, giving workers the six months notice required under contract.
However, a source tells Bayshore Broadcasting News today’s negotiations are expected to lead to a shutdown of the facility before July.
There are about 35 employees at the Owen Sound plant that manufactures power transmission belts for automotive and industrial applications.
One of the workers tells us they’ve been busier than usual so the announcement came as a surprise.
