With the new year comes a new Chair of the Owen Sound Police Service Board.
It’s been four years since Garth Pierce first stepped in as chair of the Board.
Although Pierce will stay on the Board, he’s decided to step down.
At the last Police Service Board meeting, and first of the new year, it was announced Gary Levine will step in as the new chair.
That’s not the only change, Owen Sound Councillor David Adair is the Board’s new Vice Chair.
At the Board’s first meeting Levine welcomed a report from Sharon-Lee Wideman of MADD Grey/North Bruce.
Wideman wants to set up a committee to get more anti drinking and driving signs erected at regional road entrances.
The board approved the request to work with MADD and Mayor Deb Haswell put her name forward to sit on the committee.
MADD is also targeting other agencies like the Grey Bruce Health Unit to become partners in the initiative.
