Kincardine councillors hope they have found a solution to an ongoing problem.
A tender has been awarded to Quanbury Flooring, to fix the moisture problem in the basement of the Kincardine Medical Clinic.
Building and Planning Manager Michele Barr says the cost of the flooring itself is just under 71 thousand dollars.
She says they hope to come in at under 100 thousand dollars for the whole project — factoring in additional demolition work, moving expenses and work on the existing doors.
That figure is well under the 138 thousand dollars the project was estimated to cost a few months ago.
Barr notes they can’t stop the moisture from coming up through the ground, but the new floor will allow it to move around and dissipate, rather than sit between the floor and sub-floor.
She tells Bayshore Broadcasting News that Quanbury has indicated they will complete the project by March 9th, in time for the Family Health Team to move in.
