The Hanover and District Hospital has a new doctor.
Doctor Anselmo Mendez is the newest addition to the Hanover and District Hospital.
He and his family have relocated to Hanover from Saskatchewan.
Doctor Mendez will begin his family practice in March, patient applications can be obtained at the Hanover Medical Clinic.
In addition to family practice, Dr. Mendez will also provide obstetrics and emerge coverage at the Hanover and District Hospital.
Hospital Vice President of Human Resources Stacy Hogg says the addition of another full time physician will ease the strain on our local doctors.
Even with the arrival of Doctor Mendez however, the Hanover and District Hospital is still considered an under serviced community when it comes to physicians.
She credits the hard work of the Hanover Physician Retention and Recruitment Committee, the town and local doctors for their help in recruiting Dr. Mendez.
Hogg says it was truly a team effort.
Doctor Mendez says the beauty of the region, the recreational opportunities as well as all of the local amenities attracted him to the Hanover area.
Doctor Mendez’s wife is currently in the process of training to become a Nurse Practitioner.
They have a daughter.
Doctor Mendez originally hails from Toronto and is excited to be back in Ontario close to his family.
