South Bruce Peninsula is close to setting the 2012 budget, and Mayor John Close says they are aiming for a zero percent tax hike.
Councillors held two budget sessions last week, and met again Monday to go over the department numbers again.
Mayor Close says at this point, they appear to be very close to a zero percent increase, although there is another budget session set for February 10th in Wiarton.
With a slight drop in the school board tax rate, and Bruce County likely to hold the line as well — Close says taxpayers in South Bruce Peninsula could see a slight drop in their taxes this year.
The next budget session on February 10th runs from 9 AM until 1 PM, with a public comment session from 1 PM to 2 PM — and more budget deliberations from 2 PM to 3 PM that day.
Mayor Close says the final budget could be set at the following council meeting in late February.
