The Hanover Library is going to become a lot more accessible thanks to a 24 thousand dollar grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
The money will be used to make the library a more barrier-free facility.
The work will include automatic sliding doors and a custom built information desk that will better accommodate those in wheel chairs.
The funding will also be used to improve the library’s information technology network and for new signage and shelving.
Library Board Chair Debera Flynn says the grant will make the Hanover Library an even more welcoming place.
Chief Librarian Agnes Rivers-Moore says the library is always working to improve its services to the community.
She adds the grant means local taxpayers will not be burdened by the capital costs.
Mayor Kathi Maskell is thrilled with the upgrades to the library — which she calls the hub of Hanover.
She says the enhancements to the library — whether it be the physical changes or the technical upgrades — will benefit all library patrons.
