Two Bruce County paramedics have been honoured for their work in a dramatic rescue attempt at the Grotto at Bruce Peninsula National Park.
Justin Hobson and Steve Brooks have been awarded the Medical Directors Award of Excellence from the Southwest Ontario Regional Base Hospital Program.
Cathy Prowd — the program’s Operations Specialist in Owen Sound — says it’s their most prestigious award.
She tells Bayshore Broadcasting News the two paramedics did an outstanding job in such difficult terrain with two people who had no vital signs.
Hobson and Brooks received the honour before Christmas but were formally presented with an award last week at a Bruce County Council meeting.
Two brothers from Alliston died after getting into trouble while swimming at the Grotto last September — and a third young man survived.
